It's a well-known fact that actor Johnny Depp is rather eclectic. He tends to choose non-traditional roles and gets lost in them (Edward Scissorhands, Willy Wonka, etc.) He prefers a quiet life living in France to the flashbulbs and celebrity of Los Angeles. Fine. But is there any reason to show up at the New York premiere of the highly-anticipated "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" wearing scruffy, nasty-looking shoes? Depp looked great from the ankles up, however, in a sharp black suit and red tie. Maybe those are his "good luck shoes" - worn at every single premiere he's ever had - maybe?
With the early reviews for Johnny's latest collaboration with director Tim Burton coming in, Johnny should have plenty of money coming in this Christmas season to buy a closet full of new shoes!

"Scrubs" star Donald Faison does a little Christmas shopping on trendy Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills with girlfriend Cacee Cobb. Cacee was former assistant to singer Jessica Simpson; the two are still friends - Jessica made an appearance at Cacee's 30th birthday party on Saturday (with new "friend" Dallas Cowboy QB Tony Romo.) I wonder if Donald's getting Cacee some belated b-day gifts?
Who better to go shopping with than Donald, who I'm sure knows a lot about high-end retail from his role in the fashion-obsessed classic "Clueless!" Even though he has to hold up the shopping to send a quick text message, I'd pick him as a shopping buddy anyday...I wonder if he'd hold my purse too?

Troubled Velvet Revolver lead singer Scott Weiland (formerly of Stone Temple Pilots) is in trouble once again. Weiland, who is no stranger to rehab or the law, is awaiting trial on a DUI charge stemming from a November 21 incident where he tapped a 2005 Chrysler Sebring with his 2006 Mercedes. He appeared impaired, failed a series of field sobriety tests and refused to give a urine or blood sample. He was later released on $40,000 bail.
Weiland has a history of trouble, including getting busted for buying crack, domestic violence charges, a previous DUI and a rock-star caliber hotel room trashing, which occurred back in March. Most recently, Velvet Revolver was forced to cancel the Japanese leg of their world tour because they were refused entry into the country. The band's website put it this way, "The increasingly tough Japanese immigration officials are taking exception with the background of various band members, which have included arrests."
Is this going to turn out just like our other recent celebrity DUIs? Since he has a record, maybe he'll have to spend a whole night in jail. We'll find out after he faces the judge on December 13.
