David Schwimmer Makes Friends Behind the Camera

'Friends' star David Schwimmer, whose career since the NBC hit left the airwaves has been slightly lukewarm - well, except for voicing Melman the giraffe in 'Madagascar'  - has taken his talents behind the lens.

David celebrated the release of his second directorial effort, the indie comedy 'Run, Fat Boy, Run', at a red carpet premiere at the Tribeca Grand Hotel in New York last night.

The flick stars 'Sean of the Dead' star Simon Pegg who plays a couch potato who trying to win back the affections of the woman he left at the altar - played by the lovely Thandie Newton, who's hoping we'll all forget that she was in 'Norbit' - by running a marathon.

David was bit with the directing bug back in his 'Friends' days,
who had an 'informal apprenticeship' with one of the show's many directors, James Burrows, and went on to direct 10 episodes of the show.

He made his directorial debut with the poorly-received 1998 comedy 'Since You've Been Gone' - a staple on late night cable.

I hope this flick does well. I could never stand David's whiny line readings on 'Friends'. Stay behind the camera, Ross.
