Fresh from his globe-trotting tour
to promote the blockbuster 'Iron Man,' Robert Downey Jr. - wearing a
sharp suit with matching sneakers - heads to New York's Waverly Inn
restaurant on Saturday to dine with the film's director, Jon Favreau, who's been
'money' since starring in and directing the cult hit 'Swingers.'
The 43-year-old actor, who has been in his share of trouble, is not the first person you think of when you think of a super hero, but no one else has the real-life experience to make millionaire arms dealer Tony Stark - who creates an ass-kicking, crime-fighting persona in order to redeem himself - a truly believable character.
Even Robert knew no one could play 'redemption' quite like he could, and admitted to the LA Times, 'Much to my surprise, I really didn't fit any of the criteria for the kind of actor they thought they should cast.'
We'll see if the casting gamble paid off, as 'Iron Man' hits theaters on Friday. I think 'money' will be back in Jon Favreau's vocabulary once again.
