Alternative rockers Billy Corgan and Jimmy
Chamberlin were on hand as their band Smashing Pumpkins was honored
with a spot on the Hollywood RockWalk in California today. The RockWalk
is the musical - and much less well-known - equivalent of Hollywood's
legendary Walk of Fame.
Billy and Jimmy put their handprints in cement alongside those of other musicians such as Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Bonnie Raitt, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Brian Wilson, Stevie Wonder, John Lee Hooker and Earth Wind & Fire among others.
Jimmy recently addressed rumors that the band was splitting up by saying that although the band may never record another album, they were simply looking towards releasing their music on other, less conventional formats.
Chamberlain wrote on the band's website, 'Although we [Smashing Pumpkins] may not use the album or full-length CD as a format anymore, we will write and record until we are dead.'
Speaking of dead, it's nice to see Billy out in the daylight for once. He always reminded me of Nosferatu.
