Emile Hirsch, sporting a rather impressive mane, and his co-star
Christina Ricci, continued their publicity tour for the upcoming 'Speed
Racer' with an appearance on a Radio 1 program in London.
The rising, 23-year-old star said that working on the film, which is helmed by 'Matrix' directors the Wachowski brothers was a blast - even though he never got to actually drive the legendary Mach 5.
The actor let us in on the movie magic and said, 'The way we shot the movie I didn't actually drive any cars, it was all car simulators. It was really fun though, no matter what way you cut it, it was a blast.'
The film, which makes its US debut this weekend, closing out the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, is eagerly awaited by fans of the 1960s Japanese cartoon - including Emile himself, who recently confessed, 'When I was six-years-old, I would wake up every morning, pour myself a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios, pour a bunch of root beer in it—because we never had milk at my house for some reason—and get a total sugar rush while watching the 'Speed Racer' cartoons on TV.'
Root beer on cereal? That would definitely put the 'speed' in 'Speed Racer' and...ewww.....
