I heard that he was never offered the opportunity to direct this movie, hence the reason he decided not to reprise the John Dunbar role. The role was originaly written for Viggo anyway so I think Viggo would be an excellent choice. He looks pretty hot in a cowboy hat, too! LOL! Look at him in Hidalgo.
