Turns out Mel Gibson's soft spot for Britney Spears goes deeper than just relating to her stardom, substance abuse and general trainwreckness. And not just because she once tickled his hard spot either...
According to the professed alcoholic, he too is manic depressive, like Brit Brit.
'I had really good highs but some very low lows. I found out recently I'm manic depressive,' he says in a new documentary.

Checked out the uber-Catholic actor displaying some of these high/low tendencies when a f*cking annoying fan pisses him off at Madeo's Restaurant yesterday:
