Here's Michael Phelps claiming his monopoly eighth gold
medal and making history at the Beijing Olympics on Sunday.
The 23-year-old swimmer earned seven world records, 14 gold medals, and the respect/awe/envy of um everyone this week.
Making the hero's feat extra special is the fact that eight is a lucky number in China, and also a number that came up a helluva lot since the Olympics began on August 8.
'[Eight is] a lucky number for me now, too,' Michael told reporters yesterday. 'Seeing 8-8-08 and the opening ceremonies starting at eight – I guess it was maybe meant to be.'
