Leighton Meester Has Street Cred

Leighton Meester was born in jail, according to an UsMagazine exclusive released yesterday. Unlike her Gossip Girl character Blair Waldorf, Leighton's first glimpse of the world was not a Manhattan mansion but the cement walls of her mother's Texas federal jailcell.  Us reports:

• 'Her mom Connie was pregnant with Leighton when she entered federal prison in Texas. At 29, she gave birth while she was just beginning her sentence following a conviction for her involvement with a drug ring that smuggled 1,200-pound shipments of marijuana into the United States from Jamaica. Her father, Doug, also served time for being part of the smuggling operation.'
  

You know, this story sounds a little like Shia LaBeouf's childhood.  He grew up with junkie, criminal parents too.  Hmm.  After Shia is done with Adrian Grenier's ex-girlfriend, he should really give Leighton a call.  They can totally bond over being the 2% of young Hollywood that actually had a rough childhood.
