Monday was an obligatory occasion for anyone with an undying love for
eighties pop. Or just anyone who wants to make their way onto Madonna's good side.
It was the New York screening of Madge's first directorial film, Filth and Wisdom, a musical romantic comedy about (inhale) a Ukranian dominatrix who forms a pop band with her pole-dancing stripper friend and a pharmacist with a softspot for starving African children (exhale).
Clearly, there are no autobiographical elements to this story (pop music, pole dancing, African babies...hmmm) which, by the way, sounds like about 10 movies rolled into one.
