Brandy Norwood - who you may remember as that 90's R&B singer 'Brandy' - admitted this week that she pretended to be married for a whole year because she was afraid people would judge her.
After birthing her daughter Sy'rai in 2002, Brandy announced that she'd secretly wed music producer Robert Smith. The phonies even pretended to be husband and wife for the MTV series Brandy: A Special Delivery about their daughter's birth. But by 2003, themarriage relationship had already crashed and burned, so Brandy gave up the charade.
And now she's finally talking about her retarded fake marriage idea. She tells Us:
Apparently Brandy forgot to consider three important issues back in '02. First of all, telling the whole world a huge lie might not be the best way to role model. Secondly, if they wanted to seem married so bad, why get freaking married?? And finally, did genius Brandy forget we're living in the 21st century? The term 'out of wedlock' expired a few decades ago for a reason.

'I lied because of the fear of what people would think and the pressure to be a good role model. Our relationship was very real, we just weren't legally married.'
