Chris Brown Hopes to Evade Felony Charges, Jail Time

Today Chris Brown was charged with two felonies for his alleged domestic attack on girlfriend Rihanna in February.  If convicted of felony assault and making criminal threats, the rapper could face up to four and a half years in state prison.

But if things go his way,  Chris won't be spending any time in a jail cell.  This afternoon his lawyers postponed his arraignment until April, while they look for ways to dispute the incriminating evidence against him, which includes blood stains on Rihanna's dress and in his car.  Before today, Brown's attorneys hoped to get a plea deal that would grant the singer probation in exchange for pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges.

The main curve ball in the case is Rihanna. Despite cooperating with police immediately following her attack, the R&B songstress has since gotten back together with Brown and now refuses to press charges.  Apparently she is one of the 80% of domestically abused women who stays with  her man out of a deep - and deeply misplaced - love.
